Busy, active women rejoice. Yoga Download allows you to do any kind of yoga, anytime, anywhere.
You can take it with you.
Ever go on vacation somewhere remote and wish you could still continue your practice? Ever want to try out a new, difficult pose at home before you go to class? Or maybe you don’t have time during the week to drive back and forth to a yoga studio for an hour-and-a-half class? Yoga Download is the answer.
Yoga Download is a subscription service that offers every type of yoga class imaginable, from meditative beginner classes to advanced vinyasa power flow, pre- and post-natal and kids’ classes, and everything in between. You can stream the classes online, or download them on your devices to practice even when you don’t have wifi. Yoga, meditation, and other fitness workouts range from 20-90 minutes and you can download them to your iPod, mp3 player, computer, or mobile device.
Give something to yourself and give to others.
Since Yoga Download launched in 2006 it has had two million downloads, and currently has 14,000 subscribers in 100 countries. The company has dedicated part of its proceeds to charity: Give Back Yoga Foundation, The American Cancer Society, FINCA (Foundation for International Community Assistance), Plan USA, the Cambodian Children’s Fund, and LionHearted Kids. Yoga Download has a special section on the site with a filtering option for classes that designate a portion of proceeds for charitable giving, so users can know exactly which classes support which organization. Additionally, in 2008, Yoga Download created the Yoga For Peace program to support American troops and current members of the Peace Corps with highly discounted membership fees. Yoga already feels good, but this is a way to make it feel even better.
Find what works for you.
Instructors are selected for the site based on their teaching style, interpretation of the ancient practice, and their ability to connect with students effectively through an online medium. There are reviews of the classes you can read as you browse to pick one that suits you, and there are all kinds of instructors and types of practices, so you’ll be able to find something you love and a teacher you connect with—not always easy with a yoga studio where there are only a few options and instructors that might fit into your schedule. You can also preview classes online, and there are a few free classes you can try to test the waters.
